Emulando a Römer: Medida de la velocidad de la luz cronometrando los eclipses Io.

Iván Martí-Vidal, Sergio Jiménez-Monferrer, Carlos Cruz Molina

We measured the speed of light in a similar way as it was first estimated by Ole Römer, in the year 1677, by means of a precise follow-up of the occultations of Ío, the closest galilean moon of Jupiter. Our measurement process is a mo dernization of the old strategy followed by Ole Römer, and can be performed with the help of relatively unexpensive material: a modest telescope and a stable (e.g. quartz) clock. We also provide all the necessary ephemerides information and tools for the reader to be able to repeat this experiment by him/herself.
